Understanding Stapler Circumcision

London Circumcision Centre has been offering stapler circumcision with the innovative CircCurer (Langhe) staples device since 2019. This quick procedure, performed under local anaesthesia, takes just 10 minutes. Dr Khan and our urologist have received specialised training in using the CircCurer (Langhe) staples device, ensuring optimal patient results.

Benefits of Circumcision with Stapler (ZSR)

Patients choosing stapler circumcision experience:

  • Reduced surgical durations.
  • Higher satisfaction with the appearance
  • Reduced operative pain.
  • Minimal blood loss
  • Reduced swelling of the wound after surgery.

However, please note that wound healing may take longer than glue circumcision, and some patients may need staples removed after 3-4 weeks of the circumcision.

Anaesthesia and Pain Relief

During the staplerโ€™s circumcision, we administer a local anaesthetic at the base and shaft of the penis. This ensures safe and effective pain relief throughout the procedure and reduces any post-operative discomfort for several hours.

Cost and Informed Consent

The cost of a stapler circumcision starts at ยฃ780, which includes a same-day consultation. Information is provided beforehand to obtain informed consent.

Stapler Circumcision

Stapler circumcision exposes the head of the penis by removing both inner and outer foreskin. Stapler devices cut both the foreskin and seal at the same time with tiny metallic staplers

Stapler Circumcision Technique

For adults and boys aged 16 and older, our circumcision procedure follows these simple steps:

1. We administer local anaesthesia and gently retract the foreskin to assess suitability.

2. If we detect any scarring due to BXO (Balanitis Xerotica Obliterans), we may recommend an alternative to stapler circumcision.

3. We carefully position the bell of the stapling instrument inside the foreskin.

4. Ensuring precise placement of the stapling device, we proceed to cut the foreskin and apply the staples simultaneously.

5. To complete the circumcision, we wrap a bandage around the wound.

6. Most staplers’ circumcision procedures require frenuloplasty at the same time with stitches.

Risks of Stapler Circumcision

Bleeding and infection can occur. Most staples fall off naturally in 4-6 weeks, but a few may need to be removed to avoid being buried in the skin afterwards.

Stapler circumcision cannot be customised to accommodate various conditions of the foreskin and styles of circumcision.

Recovery and Healing After Stapler Circumcision

Recovering from stapler circumcision typically takes longer compared to glue circumcision. To facilitate a smooth healing process, consider the following tips:

  • Avoid swimming, exercise and heavy weightlifting for 2-3 weeks post-procedure.
  • Full recovery usually takes 4-6 weeks.
  • Some individuals may initially experience oversensitivity of the glans, which typically resolves over a few months.

To ensure prompt staple removal:

  • Actively push or gently remove staples with tweezers or cotton buds after 10-14 days.
  • Apply Fucidin cream to the stapler’s wound to prevent infection.

For wound care:

  • To keep the wound clean, use an antiseptic solution (Savlon) with cotton swabs up to four times daily.
  • Minimise the impact of night erections on the staplers by emptying your bladder before bedtime.
  • Sleep on your side or back, drawing your knees into a foetal position.
  • Consider wearing tight underwear to prevent unnecessary movement:
  • Follow aftercare advice and keep the wound remains dry during the initial five days.

For quicker healing

  • Include regular ten-day vitamin C intake.
  • Once the staplers have fallen off after 15 days, apply vitamin E cream, Mederma gel, or bio-oil to the scar.
