Newborn circumcision is a common procedure chosen for religious, cultural, or medical reasons.

At our London clinic, Dr. Khan and Dr. Safdar, leading paediatric surgeons with 5,000+ procedures , specialize in the Circumplast ring method – a modern, low-risk technique for infants.

We prioritize pain-free experiences, 24/7 aftercare, and transparent pricing.

Reasons for Newborn Circumcision

Parents in London opt for newborn circumcision for:

  • Religious/Cultural Reasons: Integral to Jewish and Islamic traditions.
  • Medical Prevention: Reduces risks of foreskin conditions like phimosis (tight foreskin) and recurrent balanitis (inflammation).
  • Hygiene: Simplifies cleaning, though proper care is essential for both circumcised and uncircumcised infants.

Our clinic supports families seeking expert-led care tailored to their values and medical needs.

Before Your Baby’s Circumcision

Before your baby undergoes circumcision, we conduct a thorough examination of the baby and consultation with a doctor so that parents understand the procedure and aftercare. This assessment also helps us determine if there are any medical reasons why circumcision might not be appropriate for your child.

  • Reasons for Circumcision: There are various reasons why parents may choose circumcision for their baby, including religious, cultural, social, or specific medical reasons.
  • Doctor’s Assessment: If we cannot proceed with circumcision for medical reasons, we’ll refer you to a specialist via your GP for further guidance.

Methods of Circumcision

Our team has extensive experience with various circumcision methods in newborn circumcision, including Circumplast device, Gomco clamp circumcision, Alisklamp baby circumcision (Turkish Clamp), Mogen clamp, and Plastibell Circumcision. In our practice, we employ the innovative Circumplast circumcision device, which is superior to other devices.

The Circumcision Procedure

We understand that undergoing a circumcision procedure can be quite stressful. However, we assure you we prioritise your understanding and baby’s comfort. To achieve this, we have put in place the following measures:

  • Local anaesthesia: To provide effective pain relief for your baby, we always use a local anaesthetic to numb the foreskin.
  • Proven Technique: Our doctors specialise in the Circumplast ring method, which is widely used for its safety and effectiveness.
  • Quick and Efficient: The procedure typically takes 10-15 minutes.

Aftercare for Your Baby

Proper aftercare helps ensure a healthy recovery. Here’s what to expect and how to help your little one:

  • Healing: Some swelling is normal and will gradually subside in a few weeks.Pain Relief: For the first 48 hours, simple over-the-counter pain relief medication (like Paracetamol) can be given. Follow the instructions provided.
  • Keeping it Clean: Bath twice daily with two tablespoons of salt in the water and apply Vaseline with every diaper change to help smooth healing.
  • Ring Separation: The plastic ring will fall off naturally within 3-10 days, usually closer to a week. Contact us if it does not fall off in 14 days or if the ring’s position changes.

Potential Risks and What to Do

No procedure is entirely risk-free, but circumcision has low risks. It’s essential to be aware of potential (although rare) side effects:

  • Warning Signs: Contact us immediately if you notice fever, excessive bleeding, unusual irritability, difficulty passing urine, or signs of infection.
  • Complications: Circumcision, like any surgery, has potential risks such as bleeding, infection, complications from local anaesthesia, buried penis and inadequate skin removal. Rarely, a child may need a redo operation or hospitalisation due to excessive bleeding.
  • We’re here for you: our staff provides 24-hour support, and we will arrange follow-up advice or consultations if needed.

I regularly use glue for circumcision incisions. I think it is the best choice for circumcisions. Suppose the circumcision is done with the Glue method (Dermabound Advanced™ or Derma+flex®). The glue contains 2-octyl cyanoacrylate or Octyl and Butyl cyanoacrylates.

The cost of adult circumcision in London starts from £625 with stitches or Adult circumcision with Glue £700.

You usually attend the clinic on the same day for the consultation and surgery.

We use forceps-guided or sleeve methods for most men’s circumcision.
