Newborn Circumcision
Is circumcision safe for my newborn baby?
Yes, circumcision is generally a safe procedure for newborns when performed by experienced medical professionals. While there are potential risks, like with any surgery, complications are rare.
What is the best age for baby circumcision?
The ideal age for baby circumcision is between 3 days and eight weeks old. During this time, newborns heal quickly, and the procedure is often straightforward.
How much does newborn circumcision cost in London?
Prices for baby circumcision in London can vary. Expect to pay around £250 depending on the clinic and surgeon’s experience.
How long does it take for a baby to heal after circumcision?
Healing time varies, but most babies heal fully within 7-14 days. The ring used in some methods typically falls off within ten days.
Will my baby need pain relief after circumcision?
Babies usually experience some discomfort after circumcision. The effect of the numbing injection may last a few hours, and the doctor will advise you on pain relief after the baby’s circumcision.
What methods are preferred by the London circumcision clinic?
Our doctors, who are child urologists/surgeons, are experienced in all methods. They prefer Circumplast Circumcisions over Plastibell because of the lower complication of the Circumplast device.
Boys Circumcision
Is circumcision common in London?
Yes, circumcision is fairly common in London, especially for religious, cultural, or personal reasons. While the NHS doesn’t offer non-medical circumcisions, private clinics like ours provide safe, expert procedures for all age groups.
What age is best for circumcision?
We recommend circumcision for newborns between 3 days and 8 weeks old, as healing tends to be quicker. However, we also offer safe procedures for older children, teenagers, and adults, tailored to each individual case.
What circumcision techniques do you use?
We use a range of advanced methods including Circumplast, glue (Derma+flex), ZSR stapler, stitches, and freehand techniques. For newborns, we offer Plastibell, Mogen Clamp, and Gomco Clamp based on individual suitability.
Is the procedure painful?
All circumcisions are performed under local anaesthetic to ensure the procedure is pain-free. For older boys and adults, we also offer needle-free anaesthesia (at an additional cost) for those with needle phobia.
Do you offer revision circumcision?
Yes, we provide revision or “tidying up” circumcisions to correct issues from previous procedures, such as excess skin, uneven scars, or skin bridges.
What aftercare is provided?
We include free follow-up care for up to four weeks. You’ll also have access to 24-hour telephone support, and Dr. Khan is available directly for any post-procedure concerns.
Do you offer remote consultations?
Yes, we provide video consultations for £150, offering an alternative to in-person visits and second opinions for patients who may not be able to attend in person.
Adult Circumcision
What is the forceps-guided method?
The Forceps-Guided Method refers to the surgical removal of the foreskin with the guidance of special forceps.
What is the cost of adult circumcision in London?

Do I have to come for a separate consultation?

What type of anaesthesia is used?
Local anaesthesia will be used, and the patient will remain awake during the procedure. You can go home or drive after the circumcision.
What are the risks and side effects of adult circumcision?
Although risks and side effects are rare, they may occur, including bleeding, infection, altered sensations, or the need for a redo.
What should I expect after the operation?
You can expect discomfort for a few days after the procedure, but it can be managed with painkillers. Swelling and bruising of the penis are expected for a few days after the procedure.
Do I need the follow-up?
You don’t usually need a follow-up appointment after circumcision unless the surgeon feels it’s necessary. We are happy to see you after the operation if indicated.
