The widespread acceptance of adult local anaesthesia circumcision in the community remains debatable. We report outcomes (Glue and Stiches) from a dedicated GP clinic over two year period. Patient demographics, indications and postoperative complications were recorded prospectively.
Patient Demographics and Indications
- Total circumcisions: 373 (Glue: 269, Stitches: 103)
- 230 patients had therapeutic indications
- 63 cases (17%) involved balanitis xerotica obliterans

Postoperative Complications
- Minor complications occurred in 11 patients (2.9%)
- Infections: 6 cases
- Bleeding: 2 cases
- Redo procedures: 3 cases
- No significant difference in complication rates between glue and stitches groups

Key Findings
- Circumcision performed in adults under local anaesthesia is a safe surgical option in dedicated GP surgeries.
- Glue circumcision provides excellent results for adult circumcision procedures.
This audit highlights the effectiveness and safety of adult circumcision using glue and stitches under local anaesthesia in a community-based setting.
